Join the Credit Union Movement!
As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, owned and operated by the members, our goal is to provide financial products and services at a lower cost than traditional banks. Credit unions operate under the philosophy of “people helping people”. We do not have shareholders who expect a return on their investment. Instead, each member/account holder in the credit union is an equal owner. Credit union operations are overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the members. As a result, you save through lower loan interest rates, higher deposit rates and lower service fees.
Who Can Join?
Hastings FCU operates under a community charter, meaning eligibility to join the credit union depends on your geographic location. Anyone that lives or works in one of the following Nebraska counties is eligible to join HFCU and take advantage of all the accounts, loans and services we offer.
- Adams County
- Clay County
- Fillmore County
- Nuckolls County
- Thayer County
- Webster County
Once you become a member of the credit union, you can remain a member for life! Regardless of where life may take you or where you may move, as long as your account remains open and active you can always take advantage of our excellent service and rates.
How to Join
Joining the credit union is as simple as opening a Primary Savings account with a minimum deposit of $5.00, and paying a one-time membership fee of $5.00 (fee waived if 18 and under, 62 and older or a non-profit organization). At the same time, you can open additional accounts such as a Checking, Share Certificate or apply for a loan. You will need a valid government photo ID, in addition to funds to open the account.
